In this week’s MondayMotivator,

We all need some inspiration from time to time.

The definition of success is different for everyone. Whether personal or professional, we always look to improve in some areas of our lives.

There have been many successful people who have traveled planet Earth, and one of these was Steve Jobs, a visionary and creative genius. He once said: “Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, and the troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes, and the ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

Developing a solid Attitude Factor in yourself and others is vital to success. There are three psychological components to Attitude:

  • Thought
  • Feeling
  • Performance or Behaviour.

If you want someone to improve their performance or change their behaviour, you must first relate to their feelings. No amount of verbal abuse or negative criticism will ever change their behaviour.

Here are six important signposts on the road to success:

  1. First master the art of contentment. Be grateful for what you have already, not what you don’t possess.
  2. Be your own navigator. It’s YOUR goal, your destiny that you seek, not someone else’s, so why bother to ask their opinion.
  3. “Are the commitments, pursuits, and uses of my time currently taking me to where I want to be?”
  4. “Is where I am heading really, really, really where I want to be?” Many people mistake what might be a good idea for desire and purpose.
  5. Identify your critical success factors that will most effectively serve the job you carry out each day and in your own personal values. Furthermore, what changes are you now making in order to get to the correct destination?
  6. What are you prepared to sacrifice to obtain that which you desire most?

Define your purpose and you are halfway to success.
