Todays minimotivator #132-2009

Lao Tzu said, "Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished."

If only we had as much time as nature. I feel sure we don't give things the time they deserve sometimes though. What are we in such a hurry and what do we fill our time in with that the haste allows us? More stuff!

I'm going to take a leaf out of Mother Nature's book and give things the time they deserve. Because I have noticed when I do the grow even better than I imagined.

Todays minimotivator #121-2009

C.E.M. Joad said, "It has been left to our generation to discover that you can move heaven and earth to save five minutes and then not have the faintest idea what to do with them when you have saved them."

I am not a person to rush as I feel you are more likely to trip and waste time getting yourself fixed up. Yet I see people rushing around and not enjoying the company they are in, the coffee they are having or the job they are doing, because they are trying to save time. Time they then fill with meaningless drivel.

We do not need to be constantly entertained. It is amazing what happens when you stop saving time and start enjoying it.

The speed of things

Sometimes things seem to take forever to happen and then it's all go. Things are happening and you are a little out of control. Like Keanu Reeves steering a runaway bus in Speed.

Perhaps this is why Albert Einstein said, "People love chopping wood. In this activity one immediately sees results." I feel sure this is because something is happening in a controlled way.

For example: The past month leading up to Lauren leaving the country has taken forever, and now she has gone it seems time is speeding up, and I have a list of things to do before she comes home. I know that if I muck around the time will disappear and nothing will have been done.

This can happen daily if you're not careful. You put something off you don't really enjoy to do something you do, and the day is gone, and the thing you needed to do, that moves you ahead, isn't done.

This is not procrastination this is some strange anomaly (in the time space continuum?) that keeps you on your toes and makes everyday fun and a challenge.
Have a great week, do the things that don't light your fire first so you can relax and enjoy the things you do.

Glenn

P.S. Happy Birthday Jared. It's my brothers birthday today and I am very happy he is still here and doing really well. If you're new to the MM; my brother sustained a big head injury last year and has recovered really well.

Time is running out

This week is the start of some big changes for me. The designers (friends) next door to me are moving office, I'm expanding into their old office, my girl is counting down until she finishes her job this week, and then we are counting down until she leaves the country for three months.

Phew!

So, this morning I knew I had to be up early-ish to get my MondayMotivator written before an appointment at 8.30am.

Crap! I slept in. It's 12 past 8 right now and I am really thinking hard and I'm running out of time. I'm saving as I go so I don't lose what I'm writing and struggling to think of anything meaningful to you.

I just realised though this is a typical morning for almost everyone. Someone once said, "Never miss an opportunity to make others happy, even if you have to leave them alone in order to do it."

I'm going to leave you alone today. Nothing to think about except to have a terrific week and if you get a bit low, email me and I will fire off something to pick you up.

Todays minimotivator fresh from my desk

William A. Irwin said, "Learn to use ten minutes intelligently. It will pay you huge dividends."

I had 10 minutes to come up with todays minimotivator and send it out. 10 minutes is probably how much time you actually work each hour. Email, phone calls, chatting and getting your focus back take up the rest.

10 minutes each hour or each day, fully focused on something, very quickly adds up to a lot of time. Use those 10 minutes to do something you are passionate about and you will quickly learn a lot that will pay off in a huge way.

Todays minimotivator fresh from my desk

Oprah Winfrey said, "Even the wildest dreams have to start somewhere. Allow yourself the time and space to let your mind wander and your imagination fly."

You need some space. Grab the time and space wherever you are and let your imagination fly. The rewards are freedom, relaxation, energy and creativity. I think it's worth spending a few more minutes in the shower or bathroom to have that.
