Todays minimotivator #107-2009

Someone once said, "Change is created by those whose imaginations are bigger than their circumstances"

The world is changed by people who see a better music player while listening to a cassette tape or see a better world while living in a van. People who see things beyond where they are and gather others to their cause have always and will always be the difference to the world.

Are you one of those people? I feel sure you can become one by being crystal clear on what you want and describing your world looks like to everyone you meet. You never know who is going to be able to help.

Time is running out

This week is the start of some big changes for me. The designers (friends) next door to me are moving office, I'm expanding into their old office, my girl is counting down until she finishes her job this week, and then we are counting down until she leaves the country for three months.

Phew!

So, this morning I knew I had to be up early-ish to get my MondayMotivator written before an appointment at 8.30am.

Crap! I slept in. It's 12 past 8 right now and I am really thinking hard and I'm running out of time. I'm saving as I go so I don't lose what I'm writing and struggling to think of anything meaningful to you.

I just realised though this is a typical morning for almost everyone. Someone once said, "Never miss an opportunity to make others happy, even if you have to leave them alone in order to do it."

I'm going to leave you alone today. Nothing to think about except to have a terrific week and if you get a bit low, email me and I will fire off something to pick you up.

Todays minimotivator fresh from my desk

Henry Miller said, "I soon found out you can't change the world. The best you can do is to learn to live with it."

How true is that today? The world we live in changes faster and faster every minute now. I'm learning to smile (grimace sometimes), live with it and embrace it, and I trust you are too.

Are you using it?

What is it?

It, as described by Seth Godin in a recent blog post is; the luck you've been handed, the place you were born, the education you were given, the job you've got, your tribe, your customer base and your brand.

All of that added up gives you opportunities your parents dreamed of and your grandparents couldn't have conceived would be possible.

So friend, are you using it?

Are you using the luck, the place you were born, the education you've got and everything else you have to grow both yourself and your country (that's a stretch I know).

Over the weekend I realised I am not using everything I have and I plan to from now on. I feel positive this is the way to stay ahead of the negativity around the recession and forge ahead. Because when the world realises it's been given a fantastic chance to change I plan to be ready and I trust you will be too.

Have a terrific week.

Todays BOOST to survive the day

W. Edwards Deming said,"It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory."

There has been a sea change in both the United States and New Zealand that some believe will ensure our survival.

I for one am happy we have the chance for survival and I am embracing change.

Change is something we are not all comfortable with but change means growth and growth is what I work on everyday. This includes sending out the minimotivator every week day afternoon.

Have a great afternoon

Todays BOOST to survive the day

Frazzled ?
You know those days where things are getting done but just not fast enough and you think the world is going to fall on your head. What do you do?

Next time it happens try a change of scenery for a few minutes. Go for a walk up the road. If you can't leave the office, you can at least walk to the bathroom, or grab a glass of water, or take 10 deep breaths.

Doing something as simple as these actions will clear some space and suddenly everything will become easier. Try it now. Worked for me.
